Recycling in Downtown

Downtown businesses and residents now have a convenient option when it comes to recycling cardboard. The Municiplaity, along with Alaska Waste and Smurfit-Stone, installed one large recycling container in the Saturday Market parking lot!

Mayor Begich cuts the ribbon on the new recycling bins last October.

This exciting service for Downtown provides business owners and residents alike the opportunity to dispose of their old cardboard. For Downtown business owners, this presents your business with the opportunity to get rid of your cardboard boxes before they start to pile up in your stores and stock rooms.

And providing a convenient, centralized location for dropping off cardboard ensure that Downtown busionesses will have one less thing to worry about during the work week.

Recycling bins are located at 3rd Avenue & C Street (Sat. Mkt. parking lot)

ADP maintenance technicians help by monitoring dumpsters throughout the BID to ensure that cardboard is not getting thrown in regular dumpsters.

Recycling is inexpensive and saves businesses money in most cases by reducing their regular waste bill. Diverting materials from the landfill lengthens its lifespan and also saves the city large amounts of money.
