Anchorage Downtown Partnership, Ltd. (ADP), formed as 501(c) (6) nonprofit in 1996, provides governance, central administration, additional fundraising and vision for the Downtown Improvement District (DID).
Local business and property owners created the DID to enhance Downtown and create - in collaboration with the Municipality and the community at large - a vital, year around, clean, and safe Downtown Anchorage for those who live, work and visit the Downtown.
Through ADP, the DID is governed by a Board of Directors that is elected by the property owners within the district. The Board is comprised of a broad cross-section of Downtown property and business owners, tenants, residents, workers and additional stakeholders.
Anchorage Downtown Partnership, Ltd. provides additional services within the DID that complement - not replace - city services. That includes providing Security Ambassadors and Maintenance Ambassadors.

As the "eyes and ears" of Downtown, Security Ambassadors (SAs) serve and assist local businesses and our thousands of visitors. SAs patrol the streets and provide a helping hand by assisting emergency services personnel with traffic accidents, intervening with youth at risk and by providing helpful directions.
Working closely with Downtown Police and other emergency response services, SAs have become a vital part of making Downtown Anchorage a better - and safer - place.
If you ever need assistance, please call the SAs at 277-SAFE (7233)
Maintenance Hours
- Mon thru Fri: 8:00am - 5:00pm
- Additional hours depending
on snow fall
Maintenance Ambassadors (MAs) provide supplemental services for Downtown within the approximately 103 blocks of the DID. MAs provides services designed to:
- Maintain a clean, attractive and orderly Downtown.
- Enhance safety and security in Downtown.
- Ensure Downtown is the best place to live, work, shop, and play.
- Provide assistance to the Municipality for public space maintenance or public safety issues.
- Serve as Ambassadors of the DID for visitors, residents, businesses, and property owners.
- Partner with public entities in providing a community-based quality of life.
The MAs are easily recognizable and work 7 days a week to enhance cleanliness and aid snow removal within the DID. The entire DID is cleaned 2½ times every week on foot or with the various maintenance equipment owned by ADP, including: ½ ton truck, Gehl w/attachments, 6 wheeler, (3) trailers, Sweepster, Billy goat, (2) 6080’s (walk-behind vacuums), and numerous other hand tools.
The MAs also utilize Community Work Service workers to maximize both perceptions of and actual cleaning in the DID. In addition, the MAs established partnership with Veterans’ Industries and Assets, Inc. that have allowed ADP to reintegrate veterans into the work force and to provide an avenue for Alaskans with disabilities to solve their employment needs and live independently.
