Downtown Construction Meeting – TOMORROW!

Don't forget -- Anchorage Downtown Partnership, Ltd. is hosting regularly occurring monthly meetings about the upcoming summer construction season for our stakeholders.

Please join us tomorrow (Wednesday) June 4th from 9:00am-10:00am at the Alaska State Trooper Museum (245 West 5th Avenue, Suite 113). Representatives from the Municipality and the various projects in Downtown will be on hand. Bring your comments and questions about the summer construction season to the meeting!

Increased safety & security afoot in Downtown

From the Mayor’s Weekly Newsletter: To ensure the safety of residents and visitors in downtown, Mayor Mark Begich recently proposed and the Assembly approved an additional $100,000 to increase the Police Department presence through enhanced foot patrol. In partnership with the Anchorage Convention and Visitors Bureau and Anchorage Downtown Partnership, Ltd., additional Security Ambassadors also are patrolling the 103 square blocks of the Downtown Improvement District. The police officers are deployed for 14 hours, seven days a week, from 8:00am until 10:00pm, coordinating daily with the Security Ambassadors.

Title 21 Rewrite Community Meeting

From the Municipality: Title 21 is the law governing land use within the Municipality of Anchorage.  Last rewritten in 1969, with 35 years of piecemeal changes, it is hard to read, interpret and use.  The rewrite—underway for the past six years—brings the land use code in line with the Municipality’s comprehensive plan, Anchorage 2020.

We encourage everyone to attend a community meeting on Thursday, June 5, 2008 to learn about the Title 21 Rewrite using a new on-line tool, the status of the completed chapters and where they are in the official review process.  Learn where to provide input to decision makers, the chapters currently being developed and when and where to provide input.

WHEN: Thursday, June 5,2008 from 7:00-9:00pm
WHERE: The Anchorage Museum at Rasmuson Center (121 W. 7th Avenue)
WHAT: Find out what the Title 21 Rewrite means to you as a property owner, a developer, a business owner, or a resident concerned about the future growth and improvements of our city.
