50th Anniversary Kick-off this weekend!

The “We're In Weekend” commemorates the Anchorage Times headline "WE'RE IN" that appeared on the paper's front page, June 30, 1958 - the day the United States Congress gave their stamp of approval to Alaska's bid for statehood.

In honor of that day, the “We're In Weekend” is rolling back the calendar and pulling out all the stops for a FREE retro downtown extravaganza on 4th Avenue!

Join us during the “We're In Weekend” this Saturday June 28, from 10:00am - 4:00pm and travel back in time to the fabulous fifties in a day filled with fantastic music, phenomenal feats of strength and historic tours. The 5th Avenue Garage is free to the public.

Antique cars will line Anchorage's historic Fourth Avenue, creating the look and feel of 50's Alaska. Four stages will feature local and national headlining family entertainment.

And don't miss the Firefighters Combat Challenge (starting at 10:00am, between E & F Streets) - a showcase of skills and athleticism by firefighters in a competition simulating the essential skills of firefighting.

At noon, special guests will participate in a historic reenactment of the hanging of the 49th star on the American flag at Anchorage's old Federal Court building on the corner of G and Fourth.

Round up the family and friends and get down in Downtown Anchorage at this free historic even! Call Anchorage Downtown Partnership, Ltd. for more info (279-5650)
