Grape Expectations

I’ve never thought of a liquor store as classy until I visited Grape Expectations.  This is the kind of store that is about the experience as much as it is about what they sell.

I’m not talking classy where you wished you had worn a better pair of shoes.  I’m talking comfortable, friendly, want to hang around and chat kind of class, but you can buy liquor there.  How great is that?!

Owner, Terri Potter, wanted to have a place where people could find unique wines and beers.  She is a big supporter of downtown and excited to be located right by Town Square on 6th Avenue next to 6th Avenue Outfitters.

When I asked Terri about her reason for wanting to own a liquor store her first response was a desire to provide customer service.  Grape Expectations is the place you want to go if you are looking for something out of the ordinary.

If you remember a wonderful hard cider you had at some stop you made out of state she will research what you are talking about and special order what you want.

I noticed right away that she carries my favorite Belgium beer.  I’m one of those people who like wine, but don’t really know anything about wine.  Terri asked a few questions and made some suggestions.

I came away with an organic Zinfandel.  I look forward to “researching” her suggestion.  This is a tough job, but someone has to check these things out for you!

The selection of wines and beers is worth checking out.  There is also hard liquor available and a fun selection of sparkling wines and hard cider.

I enjoyed just chatting with Terri, who really does know about customer service.  You can bring your bike into the store and she is dog friendly.

If you enjoy wine and/or beer you will want to check out the selections.  If you enjoy chatting with a life long Alaskan stop by just to meet Terri.  This place is worth a visit.
