McGinley’s Irish Pub

Good food, good service, a filling sandwich and a Downtown Dining Challenge sticker.  All my needs were met at McGinley’s Irish Pub.

I haven’t been to McGinley’s in a while.   I’m glad the Downtown Dining Challenge led me there for a late lunch last week.

The menu offers a variety of hearty foods and tasty salads.  I was in the mood for hearty and I was not disappointed.

One friend got the corned beef and cabbage and split it with a friend and still had plenty to eat.   Another friend got the Shepherds pie and we were impressed with the taste and the portion.

I got a carved turkey sandwich with bacon on toast.  No flimsy sandwich meat here.  This was real turkey and real bacon and lots of it.  I ate half the sandwich for lunch and the other half for dinner and was stuffed both times.

My new obsession has become the Downtown Dining Challenge.  I am not a competitive person by nature, but this is one challenge that has me up at night planning strategy.

There are so many good restaurants downtown that it is easy to forget ones that you don’t frequent regularly because of their location.  The dining challenge has offered the chance to spread the eating around.

I have to get 10 separate stickers and I have 16 wonderful choices.  Even a clutz like me can eat to win!  No skills needed, just a strong desire for food.  This is my kind of competition.

The secret benefit of the challenge is rediscovering places like McGinley’s that I hadn’t stopped by in a while.  There are no losers in this competition!

Get your Dining Challenge card at any participating restaurant and eat to win.   I’m working towards being an overachiever, but anyone who eats downtown can benefit from playing.

Visit McGinley’s Irish Pub at 7th & G and see what the Irish know about eating and drinking!
