Midnight Sun Cafe

I can’t believe I haven’t blogged about Midnight Sun Cafe before! I am so addicted to their fresh baked cookies that they have joked about starting a 12 step program for me.  Doesn’t matter what flavor the chocolate chip, the Oatmeal & M&M, the molasses, the peanut butter…they are all my favorite.  I would drive miles out of my way in a snow storm to get one of these cookies.

I warn you I sometimes stock up so if you want a cookie you have to be quick.  I can’t sleep thinking they might have one left over night.

If you walk in to Midnight Sun at any point during a work day you will find someone from Anchorage Downtown Partnership, Ltd. in there.  This is partly because they are right next to the shop and the nearest bathroom, but mostly because it is just a great place to go…to eat I mean.  The Cafe is located in the 5th Avenue Parking garage at 5th and C Street.   You can enter from 5th Avenue or by the elevators in the garage.

Midnight Sun offers organic products and some of the best coffee in the city.  They use K Bay coffee from Homer and pride themselves on fresh products and home made soups and cookies.

The food is fantastic and the service and atmosphere great.  Lindsey, the owner, prides herself on knowing her products and asks questions to help find the perfect brew for her customers. She is also great at remembering people’s favorites and taking special requests.

The walls are decorated with local artists that change each month and Lindsey offers some fair trade goods to add to the community minded nature of the cafe.

Midnight Sun Cafe has been nominated for a Ship Creek Landing Award at the Heart of Anchorage Awards put on by Anchorage Downtown Partnership, Ltd. to recognize it as a new business that adds a dynamic element to Downtown Anchorage.   With the focus on quality and a community minded attitude Midnight Sun Cafe deserves to be recognized.

This is a place worth visiting and if you like cookies I dare you to find a better cookie in the city!
