The Anchor

If you are aware enough to read my blog you must know that The Anchor is a hopping place to go for night life.  Did you know that they also serve a don’t want to miss lunch?

From now through April they are participating in Winter Wednesday Dining Downtown.  The Anchor is offering half price appetizers on Wednesdays.  I went for lunch today & discovered what a good deal tastes like.  Mmmm.

I had intended to split a few appetizers with friends and get some lunch, but the appetizers are so wonderful and large that we ended up eating them for lunch.  We tried the pork slidders, three barbeque pork and cole slaw mini sandwiches on little mini buns.  They were tasty!  The sweet potato fries are delicious so it’s good we got two helpings even though the servings are large.  They came with a wonderful honey dijon sauce.

We tried the lamb mini burgers.  I’ve never seen little tiny pitas before but the lamb came in a little pita with feta cheese & sauce.  I can’t eat the cheese so I just snuck a bite of the meat which was tasty.  The friend who got them didn’t really want to share so he must have liked them.

We also got the wings which got good reviews for nice flavor without too much heat.  The calamari was also a surprise taste with a light curry coating and a wonderful dipping sauce.

With so many choices and large portions we still managed to finish off what we ordered.  It was all so good that I will have to go back and try lunch next time. With each item the flavors were unique and wonderful.

I have discovered a new favorite lunch spot.  I guess The Anchor isn’t just for night life anymore.
